Matanov came to the US in 2010 on a student visa, and some time later received political asylum. According to investigators, three days after the explosion they got rid of the laptop backpack with pyrotechnics and a laptop belonging to Tsarnaev.

Currently Kadyrbaev and Tazhayakov are in custody and awaiting trial. In the aggregate of the charges they are to face penalties of up to 25 years in prison. Defendants themselves did not plead guilty.

As a result of the Boston Marathon bombing, three people were killed and over 260 were injured. The main suspects in the attack are two brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tamerlan (26) was killed in a shoot-out with the police. Dzokhar (20) is facing death penalty. The trial is set for November 3.
